Paulo Menezes 

Paulo Menezes has a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Informatics since 2007. He is with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Coimbra and is responsible for the courses on Computer Architecture, Computer Graphics and Augmented Reality, and Interactive Systems and Robotics. He is also a senior researcher at the Institute of Systems and Robotics, and the head of the Immersive Systems and Sensorial Stimulation Laboratory develops activities and advises 6 Ph.D. students in areas such as Machine Learning, Affective Computing, Human-Robot Interaction, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and Human Behaviour Analysis. He is currently involved in several national projects in the areas of telemedicine, Augmented Reality for Manufacture, Intelligent Assistive Environments, Brain-Computer Interfaces for Safe Industrial Robotics, Cognitive Stimulation Games for Autistic Children, and Serious Games for Emotional Learning in Children in Public Schools. At the European level he has been involved in several projects, and currently is responsible for the Robotic Social Interaction WP on the H2020 RISE Lifebots Exchange project. He is the Chair of the Portuguese Chapter of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and a Member of the IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society.

Luis Agnelo de Almeida

Luis Agnelo de Almeida holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He has an Electrical Engineering degree (specialization in computers) from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra (FCTUC).
His main scientific interests are Computer Vision, Robotics, Augmented Reality, and Computer Graphics.

Maria Rita Nogueira

Maria Rita obtained a PhD in Contemporary Art from the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra and obtained a M.Sc. in Design and Multimedia, from the Department of Informatics Engineering, University of Coimbra. Since then she has developed knowledge in the digital environment that allowed her to think about their integration in different areas. Her research interests focus on user experience, interface, human-computer interaction, and its application to multidisciplinary works, such as Arts, Design, and Health. She is currently attending the Doctoral Program in Contemporary Arts at the University of Coimbra. In this context, her research has been selected for funding by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the aegis of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES) of the Government of Portugal. Previously, Maria Rita researched at the Center for Research in Territory, Architecture, and Design from Lisbon (CITAD), where she integrated the User Experience Design (UxD) Lab.

Bruno Ferreira

Bruno Ferreira was born on the 14th of September, 1996, in Coimbra, Portugal. He completed his Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2019. Since then he has been an active researcher and a PhD student with IS3L at the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR), Coimbra.

His main research interests include immersive technologies for motor rehabilitation, estimation of body pose, analysis of human motion, interpretation of the emotional state, as well as recognition and anticipation of human actions. Since September 2020, his research has been selected for funding by "Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia" (FCT) under the aegis of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES) of the Government of Portugal.

Bruno Patrão

Bruno Patrão received the M.Sc. in Visual Information Technologies from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Coimbra in 2011. The field of his M.Sc. dissertation was in Computer Vision, entitled "Augmented Reality System based on Binary Patterns".

His interests include Augmented/Virtual Reality, Interactive Systems and Computer Graphics.

Gustavo Assunção

Gustavo Assunção received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2019. Since then he has been a researcher with IS3L at the Institute of Systems and Robotics, Coimbra, Portugal, and is currently pursuing a PhD with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Coimbra, Portugal. As of 2020, his research has been selected for funding by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the aegis of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES) of the Government of Portugal. His research interests encompass deep learning, computational neuroscience, neurocognitive computing, and a bio-inspired mathematical foundation for artificial intelligence, to which he has been contributing since 2019.

Vishal Gautam - Is a PhD student developing socially acceptable behaviours for companion robots within the framework of the Activas Project.

 

   

Andrey Solovov - Is a PhD student working on the development of speaker traits using neural networks to be made available on a Software as a Service approach on the A4A - Audiology for All Project. His plans include starting a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Systems.
